Another method of acne scar removal is laser resurfacing. Here, a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon uses a laser to burn off the top layer of the skin. Meanwhile, Punch Excision is a method of acne scar removal where the scar is excised using a punch tool and the edges are sutured together afterwards. Another surgical method of acne scar removal is subcision. The scar is detached from a deeper tissue allowing a pool of blood to form underneath the scar, which forms a connective tissue, leveling it with the surface.

Not all acne scar removal involves surgical procedures. Chemical peels, also known as acid peels, involve a type of organic acid, usually, glycolic, salicylic or lactic acid. Dermatologists apply this to the skin so that a smoother layer will surface. Although the name might scare off most people, this method of acne scar removal is painless and requires no anesthetic. Peels are generally conducted over a period of a few weeks to months.

If you are considering having your acne scars removed, it is best to consult first a competent dermatologist. Acne scar removal maybe a boon to people with acne scars but if done improperly or haphazardly, they may do more harm than good. Inquire about the acne scar removal program your dermatologist offers. There is no need to feel bad about yourself if you have acne scars. With these techniques of acne scar removal, a new you, with smoother skin and reinvigorated self-esteem, will shine forth in no time at all.

Cont’d from “Acne Scars: How to deal with them”

Treating acne at its later stage takes several surgical procedures. Most of the time, different surgical procedures are used for different defects. A resurfacing procedure follows to smooth out any scars. These acne scars treatments that are generally known as dermatologic surgery follows.

One acne scar treatment included in dermatologic surgery is collagen injection. Collagen is inserted under the skin to stretch・and fill out・superficial and deep soft scars.

Another acne scar treatment under dermatologic surgery is autologous fat transfer. Fat is taken from another part of your own body and injected in the skin to elevate depressed scars.

Dermabrasion is another acne scar treatment included in dermatologic surgery. This is thought to be the most effective acne scar treatment. A high-speed brush is used to remove the surface skin and alter the contour of scars. This particular acne scar treatment removes the superficial scars altogether and reduces the depth of deep scars.

Microdermabrasion is an acne scar treatment taken from the dermabrasion technique. Instead of using a high-speed brush, this acne scar treatment uses aluminum oxide crystals passing through a vacuum to remove surface skin.

This acne scar treatment recontours scar tissue and reduces the redness of skin by using lasers of various wavelength and intensity. This acne scar treatment is called Laser Treatment.

Another acne scar treatment is skin surgery wherein each scar is excised down to the layer of subcutaneous fat. The resulting hole in the skin may be repaired with a small skin graft.

The above acne scar treatments are not suitable to all kinds of acne as there are different kinds of acne scars. Be sure to consult your dermatologists regarding any acne scar treatment that you are thinking of trying as it may not be effective if the acne scar treatment is for another kind of acne scar different from yours.

Lastly, proper acne scar treatment involves a significant investment of time and money but the results can be dramatic. But always, the best acne scar treatment is to treat acne scars early and as long as necessary.

On Treating Acne Scars: Pt 1

Thursday, May 26th, 2005

Acne is one of the most common and prevalent diseases that afflict many people. It is an inflammatory disease of the skin characterized by excessive production of oil sebaceous glands that cause the hair follicles of the face, chest and back to become plugged. Acne usually takes the form of black heads, pimple outbreaks, cysts, infected abscesses, and (sometimes) scarring. Acne often leaves scars and other blemishes on the affected area of the skin. Severe acne may leave many small scars that are very difficult and expensive to treat. Fortunately, there are various acne scar removal treatments available, though it is unusual for a scar caused by acne to vanish completely.

Acne Scar Removal can make a big difference in a person’s life especially for one who is experiencing low self-image issues because of the “disfigurement” of acne scars. If you are afflicted with acne scars, fret not, there is still hope for you. There are a number of acne scar removal methods available. Acne Scar Removal is the technique wherein a scar caused by acne is removed using different methods and procedures. Acne scar removal varies according to the method used and the severity of the situation. Here we will identify the most common techniques of acne scar removal.

The most common method of acne scar removal is Dermabrasion. A cosmetic surgeon usually does this procedure where the top layer of the skin is removed to make the scar look less pitted. This acne scar removal procedure makes the scar less visible but does not remove it completely. It may take multiple treatments to get the desired result. Another type of acne scar removal is Microdermabrasion. This is a less radical form of dermabrasion where tiny crystals are blasted onto the skin instead of surgically removing the top layers. Most dermatologists offer this type of acne scar removal.
