Natural Acne Treatments from Your Refrigerator

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

You don’t have to be a teenager to have annoying acne blemishes show up. And, of course, they usually appear at just the wrong time, so you want to get rid of them fast. If you need to clear up acne quickly, but don’t want to use harsh chemicals, try one of these natural acne treatments.

Garlic
Garlic clears up acne by killing harmful bacterial on your skin and drying up excess oils. As simple as it may seem, this natural treatment has been shown to work even on tough adult acne. Just cut open a clove of fresh garlic and rub it gently on your skin to cover the acne with juice.

Green tea and carrots
Green tea may be a little oversold as a cure-all, but there really are health benefits behind the hype. In addition to being all-around good for you, green tea has anti-bacterial properties and the antioxidants it contains have a proven ability to treat and prevent acne. You could use a tissue or clean make-up sponge to apply tea directly to your skin, but there’s an easier way. Boil a carrot (carrots are also rich in antioxidants) until it’s soft enough to mash. Then make a cup of green tea and mix enough tea into the mashed carrot to form a paste. Apply the paste to your acne, give it 15 minutes or so to work, then wash it off.

Oranges and eggs
The astringent properties of oranges make them an effective natural treatment for acne. To get the most benefit, grind up some orange peels (use a cheese grater or food processor) and mix them with water to create a paste. Apply this paste to your blemishes and leave it on for twenty or thirty minutes. Another acne remedy you can make from oranges is a mix of orange juice (squeezed fresh from an orange, not poured from a bottle) and egg white. Apply this to your face and let it sit for about 15 minutes to help clear your pores.

Baking soda
You may have heard of this acne remedy before, but it’s not just an old wives’ tale. Ordinary baking soda really can clear up small blemishes quickly. Before you try this cure, though, keep in mind that some people with sensitive skin find baking soda irritating, so use caution. Make a small amount of paste out of baking soda and water and dab the paste directly onto your acne spots. Leave it on for fifteen to twenty minutes, then gently wash it off. Some find this treatment tingles or stings a bit, but if causes a burning sensation, wash it off immediately because in rare cases it can damage sensitive skin types.

If you have just a small blemish to get rid of, a natural cure could clear up the problem with just one treatment. To get rid of more serious acne, it may take a few treatments, but you should see improvements within days.

There’s A Natural Way To Treat Acne

Wednesday, June 29th, 2005

Acne is caused by increased oil production which is broken down into fatty acids by bacterial enzymes which causes skin inflammation. Thus, pimples rupture. We all hate to have acne but it’s an occurrence that most of us can not avoid. Although it is more prevalent during adolescence, acne can occur at any age.

It sucks really but, we don’t have to feel so down about it. There are million and one ways to treat acne. The most popular are by using acne products. But as much as it can kill germs that cause acne, it can also kill our budget. So why don’t we keep our money where it should be and kill the germs that cause acne by discovering the natural acne treatments?

One way to naturally treat acne is through monitoring diet. A diet based on whole, unprocessed foods is a natural acne treatment. Eating at least five servings of vegetables and at least one serving of fruit per day will help prevent acne. Foods containing omega-3 oils such as ground flaxseeds and sardines should be increased. Also drinking at least 8 glasses of water everyday will be a big help.

Vitamin A intake is also a natural acne treatment. Vitamin A helps reduce sebum production. However, high doses may increase risk of decreased bone density, birth defects, and headaches.

Zinc is also a natural acne treatment. Zinc in the form of zinc gluconate or zinc sulfate helps prevent acne. It also helps heal blemishes, reduce inflammation, and reduce androgenic hormonal effects on the skin. This natural acne treatment also contributes to tissue healing and regeneration.

Another vitamin that is a natural acne treatment is Vitamin B6. This vitamin may help premenstrual or mid-cycle acne.

Acidophilus, – friendly bacteria -is also a natural acne treatment which can be found in yogurts with live culture.

Natural Acne Treatments

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

Not all acne treatments need be medicines or even vitamins for that matter. Some of the best things we can do for our skin, and for not only treating acne but also act as very solid methods of acne prevention, involve some very simple everyday foods and activities. Activities? Yes. Certain physical activities have proven very effective in skin care and acne treatments. These include massage, exercise, and well, sometimes, just waiting.

Acidophilus, “a friendly bacteria” is a natural acne treatment which can be found in yogurts with live culture. You can also drink this.

Another natural acne treatment is massage. This increases circulation and lymphatic drainage. It also speeds up the healing of blemishes.

Yoga, exercise, and breathing techniques are also natural acne treatments.

Washing the face the right way is also a natural acne treatment. Although facial cleansing merely removes dirt and unclog pores, proper cleansing will help maintain healthy skin.

The following are also natural acne treatments although they may not sound like it. In fact, the following are tips on how to prevent getting acne.

The first tip for natural acne treatment is in knowing that resolution takes time. Loads of commercially produced acne treatments promise fast, miraculous, and overnight results. An average of 6 to 8 weeks is needed to see initial results and continue treating until great improvement can be seen.

The next tip for natural acne treatment is in knowing that what works for one person may not work for another.

Finally, a dermatologist’s help may be required. This may sound not a natural acne treatment but the truth is, this is one of the most natural acne treatments one can get. No doubt, dermatologists are the best people to ask regarding acne, especially natural acne treatments.
