The scary Acne and its cure

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Acne no doubt is a scary phenomenon but it can be tackled once and for all. Acne is due to hormonal changes, bad diet and unhealthy skin care habits. Sometimes, dandruff in the hair can also cause acne. Include green leafy vegetables and fruits in your diet. Drink a lot of water regularly to flush out toxins. Avoid deep fried snacks.Washing the face a couple of times a day helps but for added cleanliness try a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol before bed. Not only does alcohol help dry the skin of oil but it also kills bacteria-causing germs. And since bacteria is at the heart of acne and blemishes it’s important to keep skin free of it’s dangers.

.Consider a product containing tea tree oil at a 10% to 15% strength; it can be an effective alternative to benzoyl peroxide. Wiped on twice a day, this solution is antibacterial and can help to dry out active lesions. There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems.

.Use only “oil-free” cosmetics. They are usually labeled “noncomedogenic” or “nonacnegenic.” Be sure to wash off cosmetics with soap and water every night before going to bed. And avoid cosmetics altogether if you have severe acne.

.Try a daily chamomile tea rinse. Make a strong chamomile tea, allow it to cool, and wipe the liquid over your face each morning. It makes an effective daily rinse because it both tones and cleanses. Take in consideration that the treatment may give you in the beginning some headaches and if you have an oily skin, you will feel it dry.

Tomatoes work wonders for oily skin as well. After mashing a ripe tomato drain the juice on paper towels for a few minutes. Now take the tomato pieces and pat them onto the face, while lying back, and leave for fifteen to twenty minutes. Rinse with warm water. Do this treatment once daily, preferably in the morning.

.Avoid tight-fitting nonabsorbent clothes, especially exercise outfits and sweatbands, which tend to trigger acne. If you can’t avoid them, at least change out of them as soon as you can.

In a recent study by Jennifer Gan-Wong, M.D. a green tea cream was trailed against a 4% benzoyl peroxide solution on people suffering with moderate to severe acne. The results from this research study showed that green tea was just as good in treating acne as the benzoyl peroxide.

But benzoyl peroxide dries out skin causing itching or allergic reactions. Unlike green tea that has the added advantages of natural anti-bacterial properties and antioxidants, particularly epigallocatechin gallate which is 200 times more powerful than vitamin E at fighting free radicals.

Claim Your Beautiful Skin Today By Choosing the Right Acne Treatment

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

Severe acne, or even moderate acne outbreaks, can make you feel like your condition is simply out of control, in many cases causing embarrassment, depression and low self-esteem. If you’re like many acne sufferers, you’ve probably tried any number of acne-fighting medications, including over-the-counter brands and perhaps even prescription drugs from your doctor. However, sometimes people still find these remedies produce minimal results, leaving them stuck dealing with irritated skin, redness and pain.

The reason this happens, more often than not, is that we all have slightly different reactions to different acne remedies. This is understandable since the root cause of our acne also varies from one individual to the next, though there are likely some similarities that we all share. It’s important to remember this and keep your expectations for a particular acne remedy in perspective until you know how your body will react to it.

As you research different acne remedies, it’s important to keep a few other things in mind as well. In fact, in order to help find the right acne remedy for you and your skin, there are some key pieces of info you should be aware of.

1. Know How Sensitive Your Skin Is

One thing you should keep in mind is that since we all have different reactions to different products, it’s important to have an understanding of how sensitive your skin is. If you have very sensitive skin, you might need to try a milder acne remedy to avoid irritating your skin and possibly making the condition worse. On the other hand, if you aren’t prone to reactions to different types of skin care products, a stronger acne fighter might work just fine, with minimal irritation.

2. Know Your Skin Type

Another important factor to keep in mind, and really just a broader view of the first tip, is that you should know your skin type. For instance, for dry skin like many of us have, you might want to try an acne cream, which should also act as a moisturizer. On the other side of the coin, if you have oily skin, a gel might work better by not introducing extra oil into the skin while still providing treatment for your acne. Unfortunately, trial and error tends to be the only way to find out what works best. In fact, even if you find something that works, it might be a good idea to try new products from time to time since you never know when you might find a new product that works better.

3. Read the Label

As with anything else, you should also be sure to read the label on any products you plan to use. And if you purchase a product online, be sure to take a look at this same type of info before you order. Hopefully the site will have the recommended uses, how to apply the treatment and other pertinent information on one of the pages on their site. An acne remedy that requires you to apply it several times a day or for an unreasonable period of time can leave you frustrated and asking for your money back so it’s best to get all the info beforehand rather than finding out after the fact.

Finding the right acne treatment that works best for you can take a bit of work but the results are well worth the effort. With a little effort, you’ll find the right acne remedy that gives you lasting results and clear, acne-free skin and your life can go back to normal.

Skin Preventing Technique: Acne Laser Treatment

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Laser acne treatment has been used to eliminate scars resulting from acne as well as a method to clear up existing acne. Scars are common in people who have suffered from severe or cystic acne in the past. Acne scars are difficult to treat and this often results in unhappiness if a scar treatment fails. Laser acne treatment has become increasingly popular as dermatologists have worked toward advancement.

Laser acne treatment is usually prescribed for the later stages of acne, when it appears that scars may form around particularly severely affected areas. Generally, the idea of the laser is to do exactly what you might imagine lasers are for, and just what they’re used for in the movies – blasting the scars off your face. To do this, they essentially burn off the top few layers of skin, encouraging new skin to regrow without the scar tissue.

The problem is, the laser acne treatment can cause scarring by itself. While you might remove the acne scars, you might end up with laser scars instead.

The other time when acne laser treatment is prescribed is for some special cases which may respond well, depending on the cause of the condition. The laser is aimed at the acne to destroy any bacteria on the face, back or neck which are causing the acne to develop. Once the bacteria are dead, the theory is that the acne will clear up on it’s own.

The advantages of laser acne treatment for scars is that it is easier to be control the depth of treatment than most other treatments. Some people undergoing this procedure only have surface scars and do not require deep treatment to fix. Other people have very deep scars and need a deeper laser penetration. Laser acne treatment is the most successful way to treat your scars uniquely.

The recovery period for laser acne treatment all depends on the amount of treatment you required. Most people will experience swelling and some redness. The swelling usually goes away a lot faster than the redness, which can last for weeks after the treatment. Commonly, your doctor will also give you a topical ointment to apply to your skin following the laser treatment.

Many doctors feel that laser resurfacing isn’t meant for dark skin because it alters the color of skin too dramatically and unpredictably. Others believe that in the hands of a very experienced surgeon, people with darker skin tones can benefit.

Lasers acne treatment is much more invasive than non-ablative lasers. They remove by erosion, melting, evaporation, or vaporization. Ablative lasers are not recommended for use on darker skin colors.

Now You Can Use Laser Acne Treatments for Clear Skin

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

Millions of people have to deal with acne. And they are not just teens. In fact, there are over twenty million acne sufferers in the United States! But don’t worry if you are one of them. You have many treatment options, including laser acne treatments.

There are many ways to fight your acne. On the most basic level, you could just go to your corner pharmacy and buy an over the counter treatment. Or you could see a doctor and get a prescription. Both options are certainly viable, depending on the severity of your case. But have you considered acne clinics and laser acne treatments?

Laser acne treatments literally use laser therapy to control the oil production from the glands in the face, which are the cause of most acne breakouts.

This is what a person undergoing laser acne treatments can expect:

Before any laser acne treatments can be performed on your face, you’ll first need an anesthetic. This is applied to reduce pain and irritation, both of which are possible during treatment, particularly if you have sensitive skin.

Once the area for the laser acne treatments is numb, the laser will be brought in to do its job. The way it works is that the laser will apply heat to the glands in the face that are responsible for producing the oil that is causing the acne outbreaks. When the laser heats those glands, it causes them to lessen their production of oil. The less oil they make, the less severe of an acne outbreak you will have.

In addition, the laser acne treatments hunt down the bacteria on your skin. As bacteria can cause acne, this could help reduce your breakouts.

Fortunately, you can recover from acne laser treatments right away! You will have little time away from the office or your favorite activities.

This does not mean there are not any side effects from laser acne treatments, although they are rarely severe. The most common laser side effects are swelling of the skin that was heated in the procedure as well as irritation and a feeling somewhat like being sunburned.

You would think that a procedure that works would have immediate lines from those who suffer from acne, but that is not the case yet. The reason is that the majority of insurance programs are not willing to cover laser acne treatments.

It is important to note that it takes more than one trip to acne clinics to see major results from laser acne treatments. While most people who go in see some results after the first treatment, recommendations advise at least three to four sessions over three to four months to see real, lasting results.
